Ashbourne News, 8th October 1915

Brief mention is made of Harry Thomas in a column headed ‘Casualties to Osmaston-by-Ashbourne Soldiers’. States that he was a private, and that he died in the Dardanelles whilst serving with the Notts & Derby Regiment, although the date of late September 1915 is given. The man above, however, is the only H. Thomas to have died at Gallipoli with the Notts & Derby Regiment. He was employed at the Osmaston Manor Gardens
